Grain spirit flavored with botanicals, specifically genièvre or juniper, and other flavors, including coriander, lemon peel, fennel, cassia, anise, almond, ginger root, orange peel, angelica and others. Created in the 1600s when Dutch chemist, Dr. Franciscus Sylvius was experimenting with the therapeutic properties of juniper in a medicinal alcoholic beverage.
